What We Believe
In 2010, Living Hope became fully independent from its mother Korean church in Palisades. We began our journey in an elementary school in Fort Lee for a year, then moved to an office complex in Old Tappan for another year. From there, we intentionally embraced and celebrated becoming a multiethnic community in River Edge and Paramus.
Each step has enlarged our territory, expanded our outreach, and given us greater clarity in being the body of Christ. Whether worshiping in a hotel, outdoors, or at a rented picnic spot, it was an exciting time as we continued to grow and make an impact—all for His glory.
Over the years, we have affirmed that one of God’s most important tasks for us is to bring the Word to all people, with a strong emphasis on the next generation. Even in the mission field, the call to educate the next generation has never been separate from the work of the Gospel. Ultimately, it is this generation that will take the lead in bringing the Word to their communities and beyond.
However, in order for them to bring the Word, they must first understand it and live it out in their own lives. For how can we teach everything Jesus taught—the Gospel, the Truth, the Way, and the Life—without understanding the Word, which was in the beginning and is God? How can men take spiritual headship, or women stand firmly on God’s side, without that foundation?
The more we understand God’s Word and follow after it, the more our homes will be protected and our futures secured. We believe that faith comes by hearing the Word of God, and so our preaching spans the breadth of Scripture. We take the education of our children seriously and passionately. We encourage our people to live out these truths daily, and we cherish the fellowship of being part of the family of God.
Therefore, our church emphasizes deepening our relationship with God and one another. We are committed to offering as many opportunities as possible to grow through the various groups and missions we support—locally and around the world.
We have embraced the responsibility entrusted to us as Living Hope, and it has inspired every generation, from young to old. You can see the vision being realized as young people not only step up, but lead—and do it well.
We must not repeat the mistakes of former generations by thinking we are establishing a church for ourselves and expecting our children to simply inherit a building. Instead, we must be active in discipling and walking with the next generation—prioritizing their true needs without spoiling them. Their greatest need is a relationship with the Lord. Discipleship is paramount!
God has positioned us to be faithful stewards of His generosity, and we must use these talents to equip the next generation—and beyond—to reach the ends of the earth.
Together, we are Living Hope, and we invite you to join us!
